Saurer Components (Temco) offers journal bearing assemblies and complete idler rollers for guiding lightweight nonwovens at high speeds, such as on high speed converting lines. The idler rollers are low weight with very low bearing friction and low starting torque. They are smooth running with very low vibration at speeds up to 50,000 rpm. The low mass-inertia shells can be aluminum or carbon fiber. If required, the shells can be specially coated such as hard chrome plated or ceramic coated for wear protection, self-cleaning, or non-stick for hot adhesives. The idler rollers can be either cantilevered (Type ULR) or supported on both ends (Type ULW). The bearings are maintenance free with lifetime lubrication.
Temco also offers pre-finished, ready-to-use journal bearings. When equipped with a shell, these bearings can be used as guide rollers, idler rollers, support rollers, or tension pulleys. Temco journal bearings are double-row, deep groove, ball bearings. The inner raceways are integrated into the shaft and the outer raceways are integrated into the housing. The result is compact size with high running accuracy capable of speeds up to 100,000 rpm. They are smooth running with a low vibration level. Temco journal bearings have a durable construction and lifetime lubrication. The compact construction makes them particularly suited for high-speed applications that have limited space. Temco journal bearings can be supplied with either a shaft at one end or an open end (Type SL) or shafts at both ends (Type ZL).
Temco journal bearings and idler rollers are economical solutions for web guiding applications where speed, lifespan, construction space, low moment of inertia, and load-carrying capacity are critical. They are used for guiding lightweight materials such as nonwovens and film. They are most often used in the production of hygiene products, such as diapers and feminine care products, and in the processing of film in the packaging industry.
