Hansa Mixer near Bremen in Germany is one of the world's leading suppliers of foam generators and compounding mixers with more than 2,000 customers in over 120 countries. With more than 5,000 machines installed, Hansa Mixer has over 40 years experience in foaming and mixing.
Mixers can be used for mixing liquids with other liquids, liquids with air, and liquids with powder. When liquids are mixed with air, foam is generated and the mixers are called foam generators. The increase in volume is known as the blow ratio. The amount of air and liquid determines the blow ratio and foam density, and the speed of the mixer determines the bubble size.
By increasing the volume of materials such as by foaming PUR, PVA or latex, small amounts can be applied to a substrate in a very precise and accurate manner. Foaming is also used to apply water dispersible chemicals onto substrates at very low moisture levels.
Foaming saves material and energy costs because less material is needed in order to achieve a uniform coating thickness or a uniform add-on level when it is foamed. An important feature of the Hansa Mixer foam generator is the controlled bubble size and foam density which assures uniformity, consistency, and repeatability.
Before a material is foamed, other components in the form of liquids or powders are often added and this is done with a compounding mixer. The foam quality is dependent on the homogeneous mixing of these components, and this uniform mixing is accomplished with the Hansa Mixer compounding mixer. The mixing can be done either as a batch or continuous inline.
Foaming is used for coating, impregnating and applying finishing chemicals to textiles, carpets, mattresses, nonwovens, paper, PVC floor coverings, artificial turf, leather hides, and artificial leather. Foaming is used for applying soil-resistant and permanent press chemicals to textiles, for applying latex to the back of drapery and upholstery fabrics, for applying foam backing to carpets, for sealing leather hides, for applying latex and finishing chemicals to nonwovens, and for applying adhesives to construction and packaging materials.
