In-Line with Fi-Tech – Fall 2015
Jeff Bassett
Welcome to our fall issue of In-Line with Fi-Tech. It has been quite a busy summer season for the Fi-Tech team. Not only have we been carrying out all our normal duties, but we have also been working on a number of special projects. The first is our new Fi-Tech website which is now active. This project took a lot of time and effort on behalf of our team from the development of the concepts to the population of the content. We will now have great flexibility with content updates as our new system allows for us to manage it directly. Due to the breadth of our principal base in fibers/polymers, nonwovens, and textiles, we are now better positioned to keep you informed via our website. We hope you find the layout useful and the content informative. We continue to add and to optimize the content. Visit us at www.fi-tech.com.
In addition to our website, Fi-Tech has also embarked on a long range plan to move into a purpose built office/warehouse not too far from our current location. Over the last 1-2 years, we have been evaluating our growing needs and planning for our future. After careful consideration, we are moving forward with our project to build a new 17,000 square foot facility which will be half office space and half warehouse. The office space layout will bring our team closer together allowing for improved work flows and interactions. We will have more meeting space and common space giving our team numerous options when conducting meetings, working on special projects or simply utilizing alternative work space for a change of view. Our warehouse space will grow significantly allowing us far more flexibility in our offerings for both our principals and customers. With 18’ of free space floor to ceiling, our warehouse team will have a much improved work space. If all goes well, we plan to move mid to late summer 2016.
During the last months, we have had two significant service anniversaries among the Fi-Tech Team. First, Santiago Vivanco – General Manager of our Mexican office, celebrated his 20th anniversary on February 13. In addition, John Chandler, our Richmond Warehouse Manager, also celebrated his 20th anniversary on July 10. We appreciate the years of dedicated service by both Santiago and John. Thank you to you both. Lastly, in this issue of In-Line, we have numerous updates for you. In particular, we are very sad regarding the passing of Mr. Josep Galan of Galan Textile Machinery after a lengthy battle with cancer. We have also prepared updates on the upcoming, ever important, ITMA 2015 show in Milan. The collective fiber and textile industry will converge on Milan in November for this major event.
